Launch of Shandong Kaitai's Excellent Performance Management and Quality Deepening Project

Consolidate management fundamentals and elevate quality standards to new heights
On May 31, Shandong Kaitai held a grand kickoff meeting for the Excellent Performance Management Model and In-depth Quality Improvement Project. The conference aims to renovate business models and innovate management approaches, benchmark against advanced standards and boost organizational performance in both pace and scope. It marks the official launch of efforts to elevate the company's operational quality based on total quality management, and serves as a mobilization rally to drive the enterprise toward high-quality development.

Three requirements to ensure effective implementation
Quality is the foundation for sustainable development, and performance management serves as the core driving force for improving quality and boosting efficiency. Promoting excellent performance management and launching in-depth quality improvement initiatives constitute a strategic arrangement to consolidate core competitiveness and secure long-term growth.

To guarantee the effective implementation of the two projects, Zhang Xiao put forward three requirements in his mobilizatiospeechn :
01 Unify thinking, raise political standing, and build consensus among all staff for tackling tough challenges
All departments must abandon one-sided perceptions such as "quality is solely the quality inspection department’s responsibility and performance belongs only to the management department". It should be recognized that these two tasks bear on the enterprise’s long-term development and employees’ personal career value. Management personnel shall take the lead in updating their mindsets, proactively learn the excellent performance management system and assume quality-related responsibilities. Frontline staff shall strictly abide by operational standards and rigorously curb product defects.
02Benchmark against standards, refine measures, and establish a closed-loop implementation system.
Focus on strategy implementation, process control, and performance appraisal as well as continuous improvement to drive the shift from "task completion" to "pursuit of excellence". Improve the three major systems covering standards, risks and rectification, set up three ledgers for problems, rectifications and reviews to realize closed-loop management, and establish a regular training mechanism.
03 Consolidate responsibilities and strengthen supervision to ensure effective implementation of all work.
Set up a special mechanism to clarify work division, schedule milestones and assessment standards. Persons-in-charge of all departments shall serve as primary responsible individuals and assign specific tasks to designated staff members. The special working group shall conduct regular supervision; work outcomes shall be linked to performance assessment and merit evaluation. Commend outstanding teams making solid progress and hold accountable those with perfunctory attitudes and delayed deliverables. Establish a long-term improvement mechanism and carry out regular reviews to institutionalize excellent management practices.
Two major projects boost high-quality development.
Centered on customers, focused on outcomes, revolving around processes and underpinned by continuous improvement as its core essence, the Excellent Performance Management Model covers multiple dimensions including strategy, operation, talent management, service and innovation, facilitating the company's transformation from "extensive standardized management" to "refined and outstanding development".

The company invited Lü Jie, Vice Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering at Jinan University, to deliver a specialized training course on excellence performance, providing both theoretical foundations and practical guidance for management enhancement.
Professor Lü Jie systematically elaborated on the fundamental concepts, evaluation criteria, and assessment methods of the Excellence Performance Management Model. Drawing on numerous practical cases, he provided a clear and accessible explanation of how this model can enhance corporate quality management standards and operational performance, while offering targeted analysis and guidance on the key challenges companies currently face in quality improvement.

The training program combines theoretical depth with practical guidance, laying a solid theoretical foundation for Shandong Kaitai to further advance its Excellence Performance Management Model and implement the Quality Enhancement Initiative.

General Manager Wang Ruiguo emphasized in his concluding remarks that quality enhancement and performance management are not solitary endeavors; departmental silos must be dismantled. All departments must proactively break down barriers, collaborate closely, and establish horizontal communication mechanisms to eliminate buck-passing and finger-pointing. A cross-departmental task list will be formulated after the meeting, clearly defining collaboration touchpoints and feedback channels, ensuring that the meeting’s directives are implemented concretely—not left hanging—and that actions remain fully aligned, thereby achieving a closed loop from “the conference room” to “the worksite.”
The successful convening of this launch event and specialized training session marks the official entry of Shandong Kaitai's management transformation and quality improvement initiatives into a systematic implementation phase. Taking this event as a new starting point, Kaitai will strive for excellence, adopting higher standards and a more pragmatic approach to drive management optimization and quality enhancement.
